Chelsea U18 2 Leicester 0 : New Mikel Outshines Ex-Man City Starlet Elewa-Ikpakwu
Published: March 06, 2018
'New Mikel' Tariq Uwakwe went the distance as Chelsea beat Leicester
City 2-0 in a rescheduled U18 Premier League match played at Cobham
Training Centre on Monday afternoon.
The initial match was scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon but was postponed due to the unfavorable weather.
Ex-Manchester City youth-teamer Elewa-Ikpakwu started in central defense for the Young Foxes, while his teammate Calvin Ughelumba and Blues midfielder Faustino Anjorin were not included in the match day squad.
Though Chelsea had a couple of chances to take the lead, both teams went into the break level.
The hosts went in front through Taylor-Crossdale on 62 minutes, before a cross from the England U20 international allowed Charlie Brown to double their advantage with 19 minutes left on the clock.
Uwakwe could have made it 3-0 in the closing minutes but his shot narrowly missed target.
This season, the versatile midfielder has tallied in games against Swansea City and West Ham United.
