Arsenal Loanee Kelechi Nwakali Sets Personal Goalscoring Record In MVV Win
Published: March 10, 2018
Nigeria youth international Kelechi Nwakali helped MVV Maastricht to beat Utrecht II 3-1 in the Eerste Divisie on Friday night by netting two goals for the Limburg based club.
The central midfielder opened his account for the season for MVV midway through the first half and doubled their lead two minutes into the second half.
Venema pulled one back in the 69th minute before Yildirim restored MVV's two goal cushion with a minute remaining.
In doing so, Nwakali matched his best tally in a single season of three goals which he set last season, and also netted his first career brace having been a professional for two years.
The Arsenal loanee has scored against five teams since moving to the Netherlands : De Graafschap, FC Den Bosch, SC Cambuur, FC Groningen and Utrecht II.
Nwakali's placed shot from just outside the box gave the keeper no chance for his first goal vs Utrecht II, and his second strike was even more eye-catching.
He picked up the ball near the center of the field, headed for Utrecht goal then freed himself before bending the ball into the net .
