Young Nigerian Striker Nets Injury Time Equalizer To Deny Liverpool Win PL2
Published: April 06, 2018
Arsenal and Liverpool played out an enthralling 1-1 draw in the Premier League 2 at the Prenton Park on Friday evening, with Folarin Balogun's late effort for the young Gunners ensuring the share of spoils.
As many as four Nigerian youngsters were in action for Arsenal in the clash, with all of Tolaji Bola, Joseph Olowu and Xavier Amaechi all involved from the off while Balogun needed just a minute after replacing Amaechi to make his mark.
After a goalless first half, Gallacher broke the deadlock with a superb strike three minutes after the hour mark, his first goal for the Reds.
It looked the hosts would edge the encounter with that solitary goal but the 16-year old Nigerian striker snatched a dramatic equaliser for his side just a minute after coming off the bench.
The goal was his first for the U23s having garnered six appearances under his belt this season.
With the result, Arsenal pull level on points with league leaders, Leicester City with 36 points each after 20 rounds of game though they are behind on goal difference while Liverpool are left two points further adrift of the top two.
