Manchester City's Nigerian teenagers Nathanael Ogbeta and Felix Nmecha were both named in the starting line-up in the derby against Manchester United in the U18 Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils have set up a meeting with defending champions Chelsea for the national title after beating City 2-1 at Leigh Sports Village to clinch the northern title.
Burkart's strike in the ninth minute handed United a 1-0 lead, he finished with composure after a pass from Brandon Williams.
Nmecha came close to scoring the equalizer but his free-kick from twenty five yards out hit the side netting and four minutes before the end of the half the attacking midfielder saw his shot hit the woodwork.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Ethan Galbraith doubled United's advantage with his first goal for the academy before an own goal from Williams made it 2-1.
Up next, Coach McKenna's boys have a dead-rubber match against Liverpool next Friday before the nationwide final against Chelsea scheduled to take place on 5/6 May.
