Chelsea 2 Porto 2 (5-4 On Penalties) : Kuku Fidelis, Uwakwe Benched As Blues Reach UYL Final
Published: April 20, 2018
Chelsea moved into the final of the UEFA Youth League on Friday afternoon, ousting Porto on penalties after a 2-2 draw in their semi-final game held at the Centre Sportif De Colovray.
While Faustino Anjorin was not included in the youth Blues squad that traveled to Nyon, Tariq Uwakwe was named among the substitutes in the game.
For Porto, defender Isah Musa was equally left out for Porto but his teammate Fidelis Emmanuel Kuku was included on the bench.
Daishwan Redan's early goal was cancelled out by strikes from the opposition's Diogo Queirós and João Mário while Joshua Grant's 86th minute effort ensured the tie went to penalties.
Chelsea goalkeeper, Jammie Cumming was the hero of the shoot-out, making three stops against all of Porto's Diogo Leite, Rui Pires and Diogo Bessa as Chelsea clinched their place in Monday's showpiece.
Both of Uwakwe and Kuku were unused substitutes for their sides in the game.
Chelsea would now face either of Manchester City or Barcelona in the final of the competition, as they bid to cart away the trophy for the third time.
