'Sometimes Good', 'Ballooned Shot' : Iwobi Rated In Arsenal's Away Defeat To Leicester
Published: May 10, 2018
Nigeria international Alex Iwobi received mostly above average ratings by the English press on Wednesday night at the King Power Stadium where Arsenal were defeated 3-1 in their penultimate game of the season before the curtain falls on the 2017/2018 season.
The loss was a seventh successive away game this season, to the Foxes that paraded Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho, scorer of the first goal in the 14th minute in the romp.
Alex Iwobi had a decent game at the home of the side that had hitherto found it increasingly difficult to muster a win against Arsene Wenger's side.
Allnigeriasoccer.com monitored the ratings and comments made by some English websites and blogs reporting all things Arsenal.
"A poor night in attack as the Gunners required precision which he failed to provide," The4thofficial.net stated and rated Iwobi 4.5/10.
Arsenalstation.com gave the Nigerian a 5/10 rating and had this to say about the nimble footed forward who was deployed in the attacking midfield role in the absence of injured Mesut Ozil.
"Decent opening but had a nightmare once we went down to ten men. One of his shots ballooned out for a throw in."
Football blog dedicated to all Arsenal FC, Arseblog wrote:
"Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit, sometimes, like tonight, kinda in the middle of that." the blog rated Iwobi 6/10 but its readers who are always given the chance to do a rating of the players scored him a lowly 4.5 out 10.
Readarsenal.com went for an even lower scorecard and handed a 3/10 for the skillful player.
"Iwobi - 5. Some good link-up but final play was lacking." That was the concise verdict of Arsenal Times
Iwobi was in action for 84 minutes while Iheanacho was substituted off with two minutes left to play.
