NFF Boss Pinnick Reacts To Reports Rohr Is Coercing Eagles Stars To Sign Contracts
Published: May 14, 2018
Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick has reacted to a report by allnigeriasoccer.com that Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is coercing players to join the stable of DW Sports Management to be guaranteed a spot on Nigeria's World Cup roster.
As many as seven players in line to be named to Nigeria's squad list, Oghenekaro Etebo, Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Abdullahi Shehu, Brian Idowu, Henry Onyekuru and Mikel Agu are represented by William D'Avila's DW Sports Management and it is known that other key players in the Super Eagles (names withheld) were approached but rejected their overtures.
''I can tell you for free that Gernot Rohr is not a hungry coach. Gernot Rohr is a coach that is very professional, he played for Bayern Munich. He has been an ambassador for Germany Federation,'' Pinnick told Channels Television.
''He has an image that is almost untainted. Of course, we should understand the pressure he will be.

''I have pressure from agents, they want their players but I tell them I am the wrong person to meet because it is the coach's call.
''Once a player is excellent, there is no way a coach will not want to get result, if that player is going to give him that result. Gernot Rohr will never (force players to sign contracts).''

The Nigeria Football Federation have been forced by Fifa to announce the country's provisional roster for the World Cup today and DW Sports Management's clients Etebo, Musa, Idowu and Abdullahi Shehu are expected to make the group on merit.
