Published: May 21, 2018
English Premier League club Liverpool have snapped up pacy Nigerian whizkid Remi Parle-Akinbiyi, writes the Anfield side on their official webpage.
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been doing some digging and can confirm that Remi is a chip off the old block as he is the son of former Nigeria international striker Ade Akinbiyi.
The London-born Akinbiyi qualified to play for the Super Eagles through his parents and earned his only cap against Greece in an international friendly at the National Stadion KILKIS on November 13, 1999.
Remi Parle-Akinbiyi was unveiled as a player of Liverpool last week and will play for their U9 team in the 2018-2019 campaign.
He attended the club’s annual Players’ Awards ceremony at Anfield, along with his father Ade Akinbiyi.
Ade Akinbiyi made his professional debut for Norwich City shortly after he celebrated his 19th birthday and Remi will be hoping to follow in his footsteps.
Akinbiyi was Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City's record signing when he joined the clubs in 1999 and 2000 respectively.
