Real Madrid 3 Liverpool 1 : Solanke Benched, Two Croatia Stars Go 90, Bale Bags Brace
Published: May 26, 2018
Real Madrid beat fellow finalists, Liverpool 3-1 in the showpiece of the UEFA Champions League held at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium on Saturday evening.
Nigeria Football Federation target, Dominic Solanke started on the bench for Liverpool and was not called upon as his side trailed even with the loss of Egyptian striker, Mohamed Salah to injury early on.
The 20-year old has accrued a total of 42 minutes from four substitute appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side in the competition prior to tonight's game.
He was, however not afforded his first run-out in a final at club level since turning professional in Kiev.
After a deadlocked first period, four goals in the second period from both sides saw Los Blancos blow away their Merseyside opponents, thanks to a superb double from Gareth Bale and a strike from Karim Benzema as Real Madrid claimed their third Champions League crown in a row.

Sadio Mane's effort for the Reds was thus rendered consolatory for the heartbroken English Premier League side.
