Nigerian CM Receives Highest Praise Possible From Spurs Boss After MOTM Display Vs Barcelona
Published: July 29, 2018
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino had nothing but praise for Nigerian midfielder Luke Amos following his man of the match display against mighty Barcelona in an International Champions Cup encounter held in Rose Bowl this morning.
Despite Barcelona and Spurs permitted to make eleven changes each, Amos was one of six outfielders that played the full game, the others being Aurier, Davies, Carter-Vickers, Eriksen and Son Heung-Min.
Based on Amos's performance in pre-season, including against Roma, everything is pointing to the fact he'll make his long awaited debut for the North London club in the new season if Spurs can resist the temptation of loaning him out to continue his development.
Speaking post-match, Pochettino was quoted as saying by Spurs official website : ''We need to take positive things. Luke and Oliver are having time in competition with the first team and I think that is an amazing experience and it’s fantastic for our youngsters to live that experience.
''We need to take positive things in a negative period with some injuries to players.''
He continued : ''The reality is that they’ve played against Roma and again tonight, fantastic.
''Luke has played the most, Oliver, Cameron, Anthony… they now have the chance to show their quality. I’m so happy with them."
The 21-year-old Luke Amos has been on the books of Tottenham Hotspur since the age of nine.
