Official: CD Leganés Confirm Signing Of Chelsea's Nigeria International Defender
Published: August 15, 2018CD Leganés and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the temporary transfer of Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo.
The versatile central defender will wear the jersey of Los Pepineros until June 30, 2019, with the La Liga side holding the option to buy him outright next summer.
CD Leganés confirmed the signing of Omeruo on Tuesday during the team's presentation ahead of their first competitive game of the season against Athletic Club.
This is the sixth consecutive season that Omeruo will be loaned out by Chelsea, having had previous stints with ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasimpasa (2) and Alanyaspor.
The 24-year-old has represented Nigeria at the Fifa U17 and U20 World Cups, played at two Fifa World Cups and Confederations Cup, and was a member of the Super Eagles team that won the 2013 African Cup of Nations.
Omeruo has played 154 senior games for his clubs since turning professional, scoring 4 goals.
