Confirmed: IK Start Win Race For Super Eagles Target Akinyemi, Agrees Deal Till 2021
Published: August 15, 2018Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Super Eagles target Adeleke Akinyemi will continue his career in Scandinavia.
Latvian club FK Ventspils and Norwegian Eliteserien team IK Start have reached a club-to-club agreement for the transfer of the highly coveted striker.
The 20-year-old Akinyemi has agreed a deal that will keep him at IK Start until December 2021 and will arrive in Norway tonight to join his new employer.
He was on the wishlist of several clubs in Europe not limited to Red Star Belgrade, Waasland-Beveren, Dukla Prague, Helsingborgs IF, Brondby, Spartak Moscow, Dynamo Kiev and Bordeaux plus Israeli side Maccabi Netanya in the summer transfer window.
During his time with FK Ventspils, he scored 32 goals from 50 appearances, including seven in the qualifying rounds of this season's Europa League.
Akinyemi was recently named Player of the Month for July 2018 in the Latvian Virsliga.
