Super Eagles Star Omeruo Aims Sly Dig At Chelsea During CD Leganés Presentation
Published: August 18, 2018
Kenneth Omeruo aimed a sly dig at his parent club Chelsea during his presentation as a player of CD Leganés on Friday, August 17.
Signed from Sunshine Stars more than six years ago, the experienced Nigeria international central defender has yet to debut for the Blues since his arrival and CD Leganés is the fifth club he has been loaned out after previous stints at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasımpaşa and Alanyaspor.
Despite Omeruo playing at two World Cups, the FIFA U17 and U20 World Cups and the Confederations Cup, the Chelsea coaches think he is not good enough for their first team.
Answering questions from reporters during his presentation, Omeruo stated : ''I chose CD Leganés because I saw the effort to bring me here.
''I'm happy for the opportunity to come here. I didn't play with Chelsea in an official game. I played the World Cup, but I know that LaLiga has the best players."
Omeruo will wear the number 24 on the back of his shirt if he makes his La Liga debut against Athletic Club at San Mamés on Monday, August 20.
