AEK Athens Choose Porto Outcast Mikel Over Eagles Star John Ogu
Published: August 25, 2018
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that Greek Super League team AEK Athens are mulling over a move for Porto midfielder Mikel Agu before the close of the transfer window on August 31.
The Greek champions are in the market for a central midfielder and Hapoel Beer Sheva's John Ogu was one of the names being linked with a possible move to the club, but AEK sources have told this website that they are interested in signing his Super Eagles teammate instead.
Mikel has been forgotten at Porto, so much so that he is not currently listed amongst their first team players and will definitely not be included on their Champions League roster if he does not move onto pastures new before the transfer window shuts.
As a result of the uncertainty surrounding Mikel's future at Porto, he has been omitted from the latest Nigeria roster announced by manager Gernot Rohr on Friday.
The 25-year-old has been on the books of Porto since 2011 and has made only two appearances for the first team in the Primeira Liga.
The BJ Foundation Academy product has not featured for Porto's first team since the 2013-2014 season and has taken in loan spells at Club Brugge, Setubal and most recently Bursaspor.
