Iwobi Settles For Second Place In Arsenal Goal Of The Month, Registered For Europa League
Published: September 05, 2018Nigeria international Alex Iwobi finished second in Arsenal's first goal of the month poll of the season, losing to only Henrikh Mkhitaryan, whose strike against Chelsea was named the most eye-catching scored by a Gunners player in August.
Iwobi had been in the running for the award for his strike against Chelsea in which he finished from an 18-pass move that involved all the Arsenal players
except Aubameyang to equalize in the 41st minute at
Stamford Bridge.
Mkhitaryan's goal earned 61 percent of the votes in the official Arsenal poll ahead of the Super Eagles winger and Spaniard Nacho Monreal's strike against West Ham United.
Iwobi's goal against The Blues saw him reaching double-digits, ten in total, since making his debut for the Londoners in 2015.
The Hale End Academy product has netted nine times in the Premier League and once in Europe in a Champions League match against Basel in December 2016.
Iwobi has been registered by Arsenal for the group stage of this season's Europa League and his name appears on their List A.
