Arsenal Winger Iwobi Sad To Miss AFCON Qualifier Vs Seychelles, Expected Return Date Revealed
Published: September 05, 2018
The father of Arsenal and Nigeria international Alex Iwobi, Chuka Iwobi, has revealed how disappointed his son is not to be fit for Saturday's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles due to illness.
Speaking exclusively to allnigeriasoccer.com, Iwobi senior however gave fans of both teams some cheering news after revealing Iwobi's expected recovery date.
"Thanks for the concern. Indeed it was sad for Alex that he wasn't in the squad for the Arsenal match versus Cardiff and had to withdraw from National Team for the match versus Seychelles," Onitsha-born Iwobi, who once played for Vasco Da Gama of Enugu told allnigeriasoccer.com from his base in London on Wednesday.
"He is on the road to recovery and should be back before the game against Newcastle (on 15 September).
"He loves playing for Nigeria and was extremely disappointed (not to be available for the game against Seychelles)."
The Eagles have a full house in Victoria bar John Ogu and the injured players, and are billed to start training on Wednesday ahead of the match to hold at the Linite Stadium by 1.30pm Nigerian time.
