Chelsea And Man City Still Keeping Tabs On Nigerian-Born LB 17 Months After Scouting Him In Italy
Published: September 08, 2018
Three Premier League clubs are keeping a close eye on Atlanta United's Nigerian-born left back George Bello, according to reports.
Calciomercato says Genoa, Rome, Everton, Schalke, Chelsea and especially Manchester City coached by Pep Guardiola are monitoring the United States youth-teamer.
Atlanta United signed Bello to an MLS Homegrown Player contract with effect from New Years Day of 2018 and he made his debut in the American topflight in the 3-1 loss at DC United last weekend, coming on in the 76th minute as replacement for Hector Villalba.
The 16-year-old Bello was a member of the United States U15 team that won the prestigious Torneo Delle Nazioni in May 2017 and started the showpiece game vs England.
Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Leicester City were among the English clubs that sent their scouts to Italy to monitor the top talents in the tournament, so it's not surprising that the teenager is being linked with a move to the two Premier League clubs as well as Everton.
Bello was named US Soccer Development Academy Player of the Year in 2017 and was included in East Conference U15/16 Best XI.
