Checkatrade Trophy : Six Nigerians Feature As Arsenal Thrash Coventry City

Six players of Nigerian descent were in action for their respective teams as Arsenal U21s thrashed Coventry City 3-0 in their first ever game in the Football League Trophy on Wednesday evening.
Back from international duty with the Young Lions, winger Bukayo Saka played the last two minutes for the Gunners, his teammates Joseph Olowu, Tolaji Bola and James Olayinka were named in the starting line up, and Tobi Omole come on at half-time.
Experienced midfielder Abu Ogogo, who joined the Sky Blues on a three-year deal this summer, went the distance at the Ricoh Arena.
The home team trailed the visitors 1-0 heading into the break after Emile Smith-Rowe netted in the 4th minute.
Arsenal had to wait until the 77th minute before doubling the advantage through Eddie Nketiah and just before the referee blew his final whistle, Joe Willock made it 3-0.
The Gunners have been drawn in Group E of the Checkatrade Trophy and will also do battle with the first teams of Cheltenham Town and Forest Green Rovers in the group stage.
