Official : Nigerian-Born Defender Nedum Onuoha Joins MLS Club Real Salt Lake
Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake have reported on their official website the signing of Warri born defender Nedum Onuoha on undisclosed terms ahead of the 2018 roster freeze date.

Onuoha joins Real Salt Lake as a free agent after choosing not to extend his contract with Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers, where he spent six years.

Raised in Manchester, the 31-year-old started his career with Man City and went on to make 115 appearances for the club before his departure in 2012.

A former England U21 skipper, Onuoha spent the 2010-11 season on loan at Sunderland, where he featured in 31 matches.

Speaking on the deal,  Real Salt Lake General Manager Craig Waibel said : ''Nedum will add tremendous experience and leadership to our group.

''The expectation is that he will come over, regain full fitness and contribute as we enter the stretch run and into next year.''

Onuoha has been handed jersey number 14 for the rest of the season and links up with Nigeria international midfielder Sunday Stephen at Real Salt Lake.
