Chelsea Loanee Omeruo Finally Returns To Leganes After 10 Days Authorized Absence
Published: September 28, 2018Kenneth Omeruo has finally returned to Spain ahead of CD Leganes' La Liga fixture with Real Betis at the Estadio Benito Villamarín (Sevilla) on September 30.
Spanish sports daily AS informs on its electronic edition that the Chelsea loanee was expected on Wednesday, but his connecting flight from Istanbul was canceled and only arrived yesterday afternoon.
Omeruo traveled to Nigeria to obtain a work visa and residence permit; both documents are necessary after he signed for Leganes.
Assuming there was no change in the itinerary, the central defender would have arrived in Spain around noon on Wednesday, however, the connecting flight between Istanbul and Madrid was canceled.
Taking into account that he was away for ten days and will train with the Leganes squad for two days, Friday and Saturday, the Nigeria international is unlikely to make his long-awaited debut against Real Betis.
The 24-year-old is among four fit players yet to play a competitive match for Leganes in the new season, the others being Lunin, Serantes and Mauro dos Santos.
The Mauricio Pellegrino led side came from behind to shock champions Barcelona 2-1 in their last league game on Wednesday.
