Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr was satisfied with the performance of Arsenal star Alex Iwobi during his side's 4-0 rout of Libya in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday, October 13.
Although Iwobi did not wear Mikel's hallowed number ten jersey, the absence of the former Chelsea star due to fitness issues opened the door for the Hale End Academy product to be deployed as an attacking midfielder.
The 22-year-old excelled against the Mediterranean Knights and the highlight of his performance was when he set up Odion Ighalo's second goal in the 58th minute with an inch-perfect through ball.
Speaking to reporters post-match, Rohr stated : ''Iwobi in this central (midfield) position is interesting.
''He can deliver decisive passes and he can also score goals.''
''He can deliver decisive passes and he can also score goals.''
Having passed the test with flying colours, Iwobi is expected to start as an attacking playmaker when the Super Eagles do battle with Libya in Sfax on Tuesday evening.
