Rohr Puts His Faith In Kalu, Out-Of-Favor Bordeaux No 10 Backed To Replace Chelsea's Moses
Published: October 23, 2018
Bordeaux number 10 Samuel Kalu has been backed by Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr to step into the shoes of Chelsea star Victor Moses, who called time on his international career a month after the 2018 World Cup.
In truth, Kalu has not convinced everybody in his first three games for the Super Eagles, but Rohr has reiterated that the winger is the number one choice to replace Moses, adding that he has impressed since joining Bordeaux.
The German coach's statements about Kalu are not completely true as the former Gent star is not in-form at the moment, having failed to start the last three competitive games played by Bordeaux.
''Kalu is having a good integration in our kind of football which is based on quick moves and one, two play. The integration of Kalu was happiness for the team,'' Rohr said on SuperSport's Monday Night Football.
''I saw him play in Bordeaux, even in the training sessions and I saw that this player could replace Victor Moses.

''He did it very well already. He did it also in Seychelles and in the second game (against Libya), I think he was a bit tired because there were only three days between the two games – it’s a small time for traveling but he did it again against a very strong team of Libya.
''It was easy for him but we were already leading so we had to change him. He scored against Libya and it was a wonderful goal which gave him confidence.''

Kalu has scored 2 goals in 15 matches for club and country since the start of the 2018-2019 season.
