Chelsea Legend Lampard Sends Message To Tomori Ahead Of Trip To Stamford Bridge
Published: October 30, 2018
Derby County boss Frank Lampard expects Fikayo Tomori to rise to the occasion when the Rams face Chelsea in the League Cup at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
The Nigerian defender and Mason Mount are owned by Chelsea but the Premier League team have granted the two players permission to play for Derby County in the fourth round to aid their development.
Lampard's side saw off Manchester United to advance to the fourth round, with Tomori outstanding in defense.
''They deserve that. They should thank Chelsea - and me for making all the calls to persuade them!'' Lampard said at the pre-match press conference.
''This is an incredible occasion for them to test themselves, so I think everyone is a winner in this situation.''
Midfielder Tom Huddlestone added : ''Once Chelsea granted them permission to play, I think they were both excited. They’ve both been excellent for us this season.''
Tomori did not partake in any of Chelsea's pre-season matches before he was loaned out to Derby County in August.
