Nigerian Midfielder Scores For Seventh Consecutive Match As Chelsea Beat Arsenal In Nine-Goal Thriller
Published: November 03, 2018
Chelsea beat Arsenal U23s 5-4 in an nine-goal thriller in a Premier League 2 contest at Meadow Park (Borehamwood) on Saturday afternoon with two players of Nigerian descent on target.
By netting The Blues equalizer in the 14th minute, Faustino Anjorin extended his goalscoring streak to seven games in all competitions.
Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal the lead with a neat finish in the 8th minute but Anjorin capitalized on a goalkeeping mistake to level the tie.
Chelsea's other scorers were Redan, Grant, Gallagher and Gilmour while Ballard and Nketiah (2) also wrote their names on the scoresheet for Ljungberg’s side.
Anjorin's run began on September 14, 2018 when he opened the scoring in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Swansea City.
Since then, he has found the net against Brighton U18, West Ham U18, Molde U19, Brighton U23, Plymouth Argyle and Arsenal U23.
James Olayinka played the last two minutes for Arsenal U23, teammates goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and Tolaji Bola were non-playing substitutes.
