Former Manchester United Youngster Ajose Pleased To Get On The Scoresheet For Charlton
Published: November 21, 2018Former Manchester United whizkid Nicky Ajose was pleased to have a hand in three of the five goals scored by Charlton Athletic as they registered a 5-0 win over Mansfield Town in a first round Emirates Cup replay on Tuesday, November 20.
Ajose provided the assists for the first two goals netted by strike partner Lyle Taylor before rounding off the scoring from the spot in the first minute of stoppage time.
The 27-year-old has started only two games for the Addicks in League One this term and hopes he did enough to impress manager Lee Bowyer.
''I’ve not played much football at all this year, which is disappointing, but when I get an opportunity I need to take it,'' Ajose said to Charlton's official website.
''It was disappointing in the original tie when I missed a chance in the second half.
''The only way you can react to that is by doing something in the replay. I’m happy with my performance and happy to have made an impact.
''I know I can score goals and in the first half it wasn’t my turn. I got into the areas and managed to set up Lyle for his two. Obviously, I managed get one in injury time and I’m pleased.''

Bury born Ajose was on the books of Manchester United for 12 years before he was released in 2011 without playing an official game for the first team.
