Arsenal Product Akpom Returns To London To Face Chelsea In Europa League
Published: November 28, 2018
Former England U21 international Chuba Akpom is in line to play a part in Thursday's Europa League meeting between Chelsea and PAOK at Stamford Bridge.
The striker was named in the traveling party that flew to the English capital on Wednesday morning.
Akpom was left out of the PAOK squad narrowly beaten 1-0 by the Blues on the opening day of the Europa League on September 20.
The 23-year-old has been involved in two of the last three games played by the Greek Super League club in all competitions and opened his goal-scoring account vs Panetolikos on November 11.
Akpom grew up in London and was on the books of Arsenal for sixteen years before his summer move to PAOK, and would relish the prospect of facing the Premier League side.
Having lost three of their four fixtures in the Europa League, Akpom and his teammates need a positive result against Chelsea to to keep alive any hopes of qualifying for the knockout rounds.
