Former Premier League champions Leicester City beat three EFL Championship teams to the signature of Nigerian wonderkid Daniel Obi, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.

The Foxes monitored the central defender at close quarters while playing for East Soccer Base Academy.

Despite being an U16 player, Daniel Obi played for East Soccer Base U18 team and Leicester City liked what they saw and wasted no time before inviting him for trials.

Before heading to Leicester City to undergo trials, he was heavily courted by Derby County, Birmingham City and Leeds United but chose to join the Premier League side.

Having impressed in the trial matches, Obi penned a two-year scholarship deal on Thursday, November 29 which will be activated on July 1, 2019.

The first year scholar as from next season will turn out for Leicester City's U18 team in the 2018-19 campaign.
