Arsenal Coach Explains Why Iwobi Was Substituted At Half-Time Third Time This Season
Published: December 02, 2018
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has explained why Alex Iwobi was replaced at half-time by Alexandre Lacazette as the Gunners beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 in the North London derby on Sunday.
From a striker's point of view, the Nigeria international struggled though he forced a fine save from Hugo Lloris with the Gunners leading 1-0.
Iwobi's replacement Lacazette troubled the Tottenham defense when he came on and his hard work was rewarded with a goal in the 75th minute.
Explaining why he made the two changes at half-time, Emery told reporters at the post-match press conference : ''Lacazette has very big ambitions scoring against every team and because Aaron has experience against Tottenham, he has experience that we can come back in the 90 minutes.
''These were the reasons.''
Iwobi also subbed out at half-time in the Premier League matches against West Ham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
