Chelsea Legend Essien Helps Two Nigerian Midfielders Prepare For EFL Trophy Clash
Chelsea legend Michael Essien trained with Chelsea U21 team ahead of Tuesday evening's EFL Trophy knockout round tie against AFC Wimbledon at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have tweeted that the former Ghana international has been helping their development squad prepare for tomorrow’s Checkatrade Trophy game at the Bridge.

Two players of Nigerian descent in the shape of midfielders Faustino Anjorin and Tariq Uwakwe are in line to face the Dons.

Anjorin sparkled on his debut for Chelsea in the Checkatrade Trophy, scoring one goal and setting up two others in their 5-0 demolition of Plymouth in October.

As for Uwakwe, he was involved against Swindon Town and Newport County but was not in the squad for the last game in the group stage.

AFC Wimbledon are captained by Nigerian central defender Deji Oshilaja and it remains to be seen whether or not he will be rested against Chelsea, having made only one appearance off the bench in the competition.
