Arsenal's Nigerian Winger Amaechi Is Back After Three Months On The Sidelines
Published: December 17, 2018
Talented right winger Xavier Amaechi is fit again and was named in Arsenal's match day squad in a Premier League 2 match against Blackburn Rovers at Meadow Park (Borehamwood) on Monday night.
The 17-year-old had been out of action since September after suffering a foot injury while on international duty with England U18s.
Arsenal U23 coach Ljungberg made his first change of the evening when he introduced Amaechi as replacement for Gedion Zelalem in the 64th minute.
Amaechi is regarded as one of the big hopes for the future at the Emirates Stadium and was better rated than Bukayo Saka, who has hogged the headlines in recent weeks after becoming the first player born in this millennium to represent Arsenal.
Prior to Amaechi's spell in the treatment room, he was involved in four goals in four appearances in the Premier League 2.
He joined Arsenal from Fulham at the age of twelve and penned his first professional contract in January 2018.
Blackburn Rovers thrashed the Gunners 4-0 thanks to two goals apiece from Bradley Lyons and Joseph Nuttall.
