It's Now Or Never: Arsenal's Saka Has One Last Chance To Break A Premier League Record Vs Liverpool
Published: December 29, 2018
London-born Nigerian winger Bukayo Saka was spotted training with the Arsenal first team at London Colney on Friday as Unai Emery and his side finalized preparations for the big match of the weekend against Liverpool at Anfield, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Saka working out with the first team stars suggests that the Spanish tactician has included the teenager in the provisional squad list ahead of the trip to L4 0TH.
The England U19 international became the youngest player of Nigerian descent to feature in the Europa League after replacing Aaron Ramsey in Arsenal's 3-0 rout of Vorskla Poltava exactly a month ago, beating a record previously held by ex-Everton midfielder Hope Akpan that stood for nine years.
Should Saka get game time today against Liverpool, the Hale End Academy product would become the youngest player of Nigerian descent to debut in the Premier League aged 17 years, 3 months and 24 days.
Former Sunderland striker Joel Asoro was 17 years, 3 months and 25 days at the time he made his maiden appearance in the Premier League, so this is Saka's final chance to set a new record.
The Gunners rising star came close to breaking the record when he was an unused substitute against Burnley exactly a week ago.
