EFL Championship club Reading have announced the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez following a successful medical, informs the official website of the Royals.

The Argentine shot-stopper has been farmed out on loan by the Gunners for the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign.

Aged 26, Martínez previously enjoyed loan spells at Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Getafe after arriving at the Emirates in 2010.

''I am delighted we have been able to attract a goalkeeper of Emi’s undoubted ability to Reading. He will provide excellent competition for the goalkeeper’s position and adds quality to our group,'' manager José Gomes said to the club's official website.

''I look forward to working with him on the training ground for the first time later today.''

Emiliano Martínez has been capped by Argentina at U17 and U20 level and has played 14 games for Arsenal's first team.
