Watford Whizkid Adebiyi Commits International Future To Nigeria Over England
Published: January 26, 2019
A potential tug-of-war between the Nigeria Football Federation and English Football Association has been avoided after versatile midfielder Emmanuel Adebiyi pledged his international future to Nigeria over the Young Lions, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
Adebiyi has earned rave reviews from the Watford youth team coaches on the back of his impressive performances in recent matches against Southampton (FA Youth Cup) and Bishop's Stortford (Herts Senior Challenge Cup).
The 18-year-old was born in Nigeria but grew up in England and joined the Hornets as an U16.
Adebiyi had trialed at West Ham but the Hammers were taking too long to make a decision whether to sign him or not, so he was taken to Millwall and during his trial he felt treated unfairly so he ended up at Watford and has been there since.
He is a deep-lying playmaker and orchestrator, not the fastest in terms of speed but has sharp movements and agility with quick thinking.
Although Adebiyi plays deeper, he is in the mould of Manchester City star David Silva and excels in short passes and combination play.
The midfielder's teammate at Watford, Jayden Bennetts trained with the Flying Eagles squad in Abuja this month.
