Kelechi Says He Wants To Develop Self Ahead Of Making Money
Published: January 30, 2019
Former Plateau United utility player Kelechi John has said his immediate priority is to develop into a better footballer and not what he can make out of the game at the moment in terms of money.
Kelechi who spoke to allnigeriasoccer.com from his base in Portugal said he is tired of everyone asking him when he is going to move from Rio Ave.
"People keep asking about my next move and when am gonna get a bigger club" he said.
"My priority is to develop myself into one of the best players in the world and not making big-money move and I think I am gradually achieving that now" the multi-purpose defender added.
The 20-year-old has been doing pretty well for Rio Ave in the Portuguese Liga Revelacao where he has played consistently this season though he is yet to break into the mainstream of Portuguese football.
Rio Ave are currently topping the Liga Revelacao standing as they dethroned FC Benfica at the top.
The player had moved directly from Nigeria Professional Football League Club, Plateau United in 2016 to Rio Ave for an undisclosed fee.
He was one of the brightest teenagers in the Nigerian topflight before his departure overseas and is being considered a potential future for Nigeria at international level.
