Jamie Carragher Fears Iwobi Could Be Dropped From Starting XI After Arsenal's Capture Of Suarez
Published: February 01, 2019
Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher has suggested that Alex Iwobi could be dropped from the starting line-up following Arsenal's capture of Denis Suárez on transfer deadline day.
A former Manchester City youth-teamer, Suárez has reunited with Gunners boss Unai Emery, his former manager at Sevilla, with whom they won the Europa League in 2015.
Iwobi has started 13 Premier League games this season and has been deployed mostly as a left winger but can also operate as an attacking midfielder or right winger.
''Unai Emery knows Denis Suarez well from their time together at Sevilla and it will be interesting to see where he does use him,'' said Carragher to Sky Sports.
''At times he has used Alex Iwobi in that wide position or in a No 10 when he changes the system. It might be that position that he looks at.''
Unai Emery's intentions will become clear in the next few weeks after Arsenal tackle Manchester City, Huddersfield Town and BATE.
