PSV Midfielder Making Waves In Netherlands, Madueke Called Up For England U17 Duty But Suffers Injury
Published: February 07, 2019Former Tottenham Hotspur U16 captain of Nigerian descent, Noni Madueke is unlikely to add to his international caps at youth level for England this month, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The PSV Eindhoven U19 attacking midfielder was earlier named in the England U17 squad for the international friendlies with France (Feb 7) and Hungary (Feb 10), but it is looking likely he'll not be available for selection, having suffered an injury last Saturday.
Madueke had to be substituted in the 32nd minute of PSV U19s 5-3 loss to Ajax Amsterdam due to the ailment.
He started this season with the U17 team of PSV but has been promoted to the U19s on the back of his brilliant performances.
Madueke refused to sign a scholarship deal with Tottenham Hotspur as well as snubbed the advances of Premier League clubs in favour of penning a deal with PSV.
The 2002-born player has represented England at U15 and U16 level.
