Nigeria-Eligible Midfielders Score All The Goals As Man City Thrash Man Utd To Qualify For U18 PL Cup Final
Published: February 16, 2019Manchester City will contest the final of the U18 Premier League Cup following their 3-0 rout of Manchester United in the semifinal at the Academy Stadium Manchester on Saturday afternoon.
Nigeria-eligible midfielders Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Felix Nmecha started for the Citizens, while new signing Gavin Bazunu, Nathanael Ogbeta and Oluwatimilehin Sobowale were not in the matchday 18.
United did not really trouble City in the early exchanges and the home team deservedly took the lead in the 17th minute when Felix Nmecha fired into the bottom corner with a long-range strike.
Ten minutes into the second half, Dele-Bashiru was rewarded for his brilliant display as he doubled Manchester City's advantage with a curling effort which cannoned off the inside of the post and into the back of the net.
A spot in the final was assured for the Citizens when Nmecha fired home a rocket shot from the edge of the box to make it 3-0 with nine minutes remaining.
Middlesbrough set up a meeting with Manchester City in the final after beating Derby County 1-0 in the second semifinal.
