Europa League: How The English Media Rated Iwobi's Performance Against Rennes
Published: March 15, 2019
Alex Iwobi came off the substitutes' bench in the second half Thursday night to contribute his part towards Arsenal's passage to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League with a comfortable 3-0 win at the Emirates Stadium after losing the first leg tie 3-1 away last week.
Some English tabloids and websites were at the Emirates to cast their eyes on the performances of the Gunners and had these to say about Iwobi.
The Mirror gave a massive 7 out of 10 for the Super Eagles star who was perhaps lucky to escape a booking for kicking an opponent.
"Alex Iwobi - 7 - Lively cameo as Arsenal secured a comfortable win and looked like they could have scored more late on."
News and statistical based website squawka.com wrote as follows:
For Daily Express, Iwobi deserved a 7 despite being lucky not to have been sent off for kicking Rennes' Hamari Traoure.
"Dragged a shot wide then created a good chance for Aubameyang but was lucky to avoid a red card after kicking out on Hamari Traoure.
Arsenal will be in the pots for Friday's quarterfinals draw with Chelsea the other English side who also qualified for the last eight with a 5-0 win (8-0 on aggregate) over Dynamo Kyiv.
