Tottenham Hotspur Target Etete Not Ruling Out Playing For Nigeria
Published: March 23, 2019
Tottenham Hotspur target Kion Etete, 17, has not ruled out the possibility of representing the Nigerian National Teams in the near future.
The uncapped Notts County wonderkid is eligible to turn out for Nigeria through his father and the striker can also play for the Young Lions as he has an English mom and was born in Derbyshire, England.
Nigerians back home began to take notice of Etete earlier this month after he netted a brace for Tottenham Hotspur U18s vs West Ham while undergoing trial with the North London club.
''I only played grassroots football before I join Notts County,'' said Kion Etete to allnigeriasoccer.com.
''I’m eligible to represent England and Nigeria maybe one other I’m not sure and it would be an honour (to play for Nigeria) but would have to consult with my parents before making a decision.''
When asked to highlight his qualities, Etete said : ''I’d like to think that I’m a quick, strong striker and love taking shots at goal.
''In the next five years I want to be playing regular first team football at the highest level I possibly can''.
Etete made his first-team debut for Notts County aged just sixteen and has six appearances to his name so far this season.
