Mikel Captains Middlesbrough For The First Time In Win Vs Bolton Wanderers
Chelsea hero John Obi Mikel captained Middlesbrough for the first time as they registered a 2-0 win against Bolton Wanderers in a Championship clash at Macron Stadium (Bolton) on Tuesday evening.

Tony Pulis's side had lost their last six games in the division prior to their trip to Greater Manchester and Mikel being handed the armband helped the team return to winning ways.

With George Friend missing out through injury, Pulis opted to name Mikel as stand-in captain for the game week 41 clash.

It was obvious that the Champions League and Europa League winner was in contention to be named captain because of his experience and he's treated with respect by his teammates.

Apart from captaining the Super Eagles and the 2016 Olympic Team in Brazil, the Lyn Oslo product wore the armband in few games while at Chelsea and skippered Tianjin Teda in his first season in China.

Mikel has started the last 13 games played by Middlesbrough, who are two points out of the playoff positions with five games to go in the Championship.
