U17 AFCON : All Eyes On Record-chasing Chelsea Youngster
Published: April 18, 2019
The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria started their U17 AFCON campaign on with a last-ditch victory in a nine-goal thriller against Tanzania last Sunday.
Prior to the interesting game, all eyes were on Chelsea youngster Adrian Akande not just because of his potential but because of the record he was about to create with the Golden Eaglets.
Unfortunately, the youngster wasn't given any game-time by Manu Garba and he was made to watch the encounter from the substitutes bench.
Many thought the youngster would finally get the chance to become the first foreign-born player to feature in any competitive match in the history of the team during Wednesday's 1-0 victory against Angola, but that didn't come to pass.
However, all hope isn't lost yet and he stands a better chance of setting a new record in the last group game of the competition.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth's U16 goaltender Joseph Oluwabusola is equally in contention to becoming the first English-based Nigeria youngster to feature for the Golden Eaglets.

The netminder has been with the team since the WAFU tournament but hasn't recorded a single appearance for the team.
He is unlikely to beat Adrian to the record due to Sunday Stephen's breathtaking display against Angola earlier today.
