Yobo Explains Why Trippier Struggled Vs Ajax, Names The Spurs Player Who Changed Dynamics Of Game
Published: April 30, 2019
A goal from Donny van de Beek in the 15th minute secured a crucial 1-0 away victory for Ajax Amsterdam in their Champions League semi-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.
2018 World Cup star Kieran Trippier made his 34th appearance of the season in all competitions for the North London club and struggled for most part of the game, losing possession 28 times, more than any other player on the pitch.
Speaking as an analyst on SuperSport, Joseph Yobo explained why the defender had a bad game against the Dutch club.
The former Nigeria skipper said : ''He might have played a key role. He has played so many games and didn't have a rest over the weekend. Not just Trippier, I think all the team players.
''They were just one pace short off in the first half, they only reacted after the goal.''

Moussa Sissoko came off the bench in the 39th minute as replacement for the injured Vertonghen and brought a lot of impact in the middle that was missing.
Yobo added : ''When Sissoko came on he changed everything, he changed the dynamics, he had the energy, he was dictating what was going on.
''If you watch this Ajax team with de Jong and the other players, they control the middle of the park.
''When Sissoko came on, that changed and that gave Tottenham a lot of opportunity to be able to go forward.''
