Nigerian Federation Target Trains With Chelsea First Team Pre-Eintracht Frankfurt
Published: May 01, 2019
Nigeria Football Federation target Ike Ugbo trained with Chelsea's first team on Wednesday morning ahead of their UEFA Europa League semi-final first leg match against Eintracht Frankfurt, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The England youth international was among the players Maurizio Sarri ran the rule over at Chelsea Training Ground in Cobham in the final workout before the squad flew to Germany.
The Italian manager has taken a squad containing nineteen players to Germany but has omitted Ugbo from the traveling party.
The 20-year-old had no chance whatsoever of making the squad list as he wasn't registered for the knockout rounds of the Europa League.
Ugbo has figured in two games for Chelsea's teams since returning from a loan spell at Scunthorpe United, against Peterborough United in the round of sixteen of the EFL Trophy and Swansea City in the Premier League 2.
He visited the Super Eagles Crowne Plaza Hotel Ealing in March 2018 ahead of a pre-World Cup friendly with Serbia and held positive talks with the Nigerian Federation over committing his international future to Nigeria.
