Iwobi Could Get A New Competitor As Arsenal Show Interest In 19-Year-Old Winger
Published: May 07, 2019
The 2018-19 Premier League season remains one round of matches to be played but managers seem to have shifted their focus towards their preparation for next season.
According to the Mirror, Unai Emery is targeting a sensational move for Sao Paolo winger Antony dos Santos as part of his desire to bolster his team's goalscoring abilities during the 2019-20 season.
This means that Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi could have a new competitor next season, should the Gunners complete the signing of dos Santos.
Iwobi is one of Arsenal's most regular players in Unai Emery's first season at the Emirates Stadium, but that could change due to competition that will be provided by the young Brazilian.
The 23-year-old Nigerian winger will need to improve his goalscoring rate as that's the only unwanted situation affecting his wonderful work ethic and dribbling ability.
Meanwhile, the Gunners will need to contend with Ajax, PSV, Monaco and Lyon before they can secure the Brazilian winger's services.
Antony, 19, has played just seven matches for Brazilian side Sao Paulo but he has done enough to catch the eye of top European clubs.
He is reportedly valued at £21m and it remains to be seen if the Gunners will be willing to release such steep price for the inexperienced youngster.
