Published: May 10, 2019
Arsenal are through to the final of the Europa League after thrashing Valencia 4-2 at the Estadio de Mestalla on Thursday night.
The Spanish side were hoping to overturn a 3-1 first leg deficit and Kevin Gameiro gave them an early lead in the 11th minute, but it lasted only six minutes as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang restored parity for the Gunners.
Four minutes into the second half, Alexandre Lacazette made it 2-1 on the night, then Gameiro added another goal to his name before Aubameyang scored two more goals, resulting in his first career hat-trick for Arsenal.
For the second successive game in the Europa League, Nigeria international Alex Iwobi was not utilized by manager Unai Emery off the bench.
Nonetheless, the Hale End Academy product was delighted to see his side progress to the final and tweeted : ''Top Performance From The Boys Tonight🔥. Final Push #LetsGo 🔴⚪️ #UEL''.
Iwobi and his teammates will face Chelsea at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan on May 29, their first European final since they were beaten by Barcelona in the Champions League showpiece in 2006.
