Official : Two Nigerian Central Defenders Released By AFC Wimbledon
Published: May 11, 2019
Through a statement on their official website, EFL League One club AFC Wimbledon have announced their retained and released list following the end of the 2018-2019 season.
Two Nigerian central defenders Deji Oshilaja and Osaze Urhoghide will have to move onto pastures new in the summer as they have been released by The Dons who narrowly avoided relegation this season.
Oshilaja made 104 appearances for AFC Wimbledon during two spells at the club, scoring four goals, and was named Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year for the 2014-2015 and 2017-2018 season respectively.
Speaking on the departure of the highly-rated center back, manager Wally Downes said : ''Deji was in a difficult position with the offers that came in for him in the two transfer windows, but he did his best to get himself fit after he was injured. I wish him well in the future.''
Osaze Urhoghide is leaving AFC Wimbledon without making his competitive debut for the first team though he was an unused substitute against Yeovil Town in the EFL Trophy in December 2017.
