Official : Rotherham United Release Ex-West Ham Youth Team Captain Onariase
Published: May 16, 2019Nigerian defender Emmanuel Onariase has started his search for a new club ahead of the start of pre-season training, with demoted Championship club Rotherham United announcing that he has been allowed to leave the club.
Onariase and four other players will officially depart The Millers upon the expiration of their contracts next month.
The former West Ham 18 skipper joined Rotherham United in the summer of 2017 on a two-year deal and is departing the club with only two appearances for the first team.
The 22-year-old spent a majority of this season on loan at National League club Dagenham & Redbridge, for whom he made 29 appearances in the English fifth-tier.
Apart from the aforementioned teams, he previously wore the jerseys of Brentford and Cheltenham Town.
Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi and Michael Ihiekwe remain on the books of Rotherham United for the time being.
