Grealish Reveals He Advised Abraham To Turn Down Wolves In January
Published: May 20, 2019
Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish has revealed that he advised Tammy Abraham to turn down a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the January transfer window.
The England U21 star of Nigerian descent was heavily linked with a switch to Wolves but pulled the plug on the deal as he wanted to help Aston Villa in their quest to return to the Premier League.
And so far, Abraham's decision has paid off as Aston Villa are one game away from achieving their target and the striker became the first Villa player to score 25 league goals in a single season since Andy Gray in 1977.
''I remember the manager ringing me and saying ‘I know you and Tammy are close – have a word with him’. I said to him: ‘Listen to your Uncle Jack, when I’m back (from injury) it will change’. I was just talking utter rubbish. I didn’t know it would (work),'' Grealish told the Mirror, according to Express & Star.
''Luckily, I came back and it’s turned out all right. He (Tammy) has not said anything to me since then. But if we win at Wembley, it’ll be: ‘I told you we’d be all right.''''
Abraham previously enjoyed loan spells at Bristol City and Swansea City in the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 season respectively.
