2019 U20 World Cup: NFF Reveal The Four Defenders Likely To Start Against Qatar
Published: May 23, 2019
The Nigeria Football Federation have been previewing the Flying Eagles opening game at the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup against Qatar and revealed the four defenders likely to be named in the starting line-up.
The question of who are the players that make up manager Paul Aigbogun's preferred back four will
not be worth more than N5,000.00 on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' as Valentine Ozornwafor and Ikouwem Utin had nailed down their spots in the starting line-up even before the first day of training in Bad Gögging.
Apart from the Enyimba duo, the Nigerian Federation suggested that Rosenborg's Igoh Ogbu and Kano Pillars' Jamil Muhammad would be deployed at central defense and right-back respectively.
If the Flying Eagles training session on Tuesday witnessed by allnigeriasoccer.com is anything to go by, Bournemouth's Nnamdi Ofoborh, Manchester City's Tom Dele-Bashiru and Bologna loanee Kingsley Michael are Aigbogun's preferred options in a midfield three.
Having said that, Ofoborh's spot in the starting line-up is not confirmed as he was replaced during the workout by Aigbogun.
Chinonso Emeka, Jerome Adams, Tijani Muhammed, Henry Offia and Success Makanjuola are the players vying for spots in attack and there was a slight hint during training that the Swedish-based starlet will start against the Asians tomorrow.
