Aston Villa In Pole Position To Sign Arsenal, Man City Target Dubbed The 'New Patrick Vieira'
Published: May 25, 2019Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo is set to play his final game for Charlton Athletic when they take on Sunderland in the League One playoff final at Wembley on Sunday, May 26.
The Addicks had held contract talks with Aribo and his camp over a new deal but these negotiations were not successful, paving the way for him to join a new club in the summer as a free agent.
Aribo, who has been likened to ex-Gunners skipper Patrick Vieira, has been linked with moves to Premier League clubs Manchester City, Arsenal, Southampton and Bournemouth.
According to The Sun, Aston Villa are in pole position to sign the midfielder ahead of his Premier League suitors as well as Scottish Premiership duo Celtic and Rangers.
Aston Villa will be promoted to the Premier League if they beat Derby County in the Championship playoff final on Monday.
The Camberwell born Aribo has sent the ball into the back of the net 10 times from 38 appearances this season.
